Collaboration

Meet the Team

Sam on July 24th, 2017

This project would not have been possible
without the assistance of various faculty at Univen and the University of Virginia.

The creation of this project required constant feedback, local guidance, supplies, workspaces, and funding. The people below are just some of the many contributors who helped make this project a reality.

Rebecca Dillingham, M.D., M.P.H.

Director, Center for Global Health

Rebecca Dillingham is the Director of the University of Virginia's Center for Global Health. She has been a constant source of advice and help from the first phone call last january to the many training sessions and emails since the receipt of the award.

Professor John O. Odiyo, Ph.D.

Dean of the School of Environmental Sciences

John Odiyo is the Dean of the school of Environmental Sciences at the University of Venda. He first joined the project in the Spring of 2017, when he was visiting the University of Virginia for several weeks to finish a paper. He has had a long and successful history of collaboration with the Center for Global Health, and this project marks one more milestone in their continuing relationship.

Professor Tinyiko R. Nkuna

Ph.D. Candidate, Environmental Sciences

Mr. Nkuna was the single greatest contributor to the success of the Dropslink project. Once the project was on the ground in South Africa, Mr. Nkuna dedicated a large amount of his personal office space for work and storage, and spent most of his time for the duration of the deployment as a hands-on contributor. Whether he was acuqiring last-minute supplies, driving to testing sites, or just helping guide the team through Venda, he was always there.

Professor James Groves, Ph.D., M.S.

Assistant Dean for Reseasrch and OUtreach

As the leader of Mr. Prasad's Capstone research project, Professor Groves was an early supporter of the project and its ideas. Professor groves provided local mentorship as well as guidance on mapping and its applications for the project.

Cornelius Hagenmeier, L.L.M.

Director of International Relations

As the Director of International Relations at the University of Venda, Cornelius Hagenmeier was a key player in making the transition to Univen smooth. He repeatedly coordinated housing and communication in the pre-departure phase of the trip, and was a constant asset during the deployment.
